RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT INCREASE SALES USING DECISION THEORY: DECISION ANALYSIS
In the past several years, as the bottled-water industry has boomed, Nestle has set up 26 plants in towns across the country, tapping into local springs. Enumclaw was its first shot at a Northwest plant. Currently, Nestle purchased land that will be the site of a new plant. The location supply one hundred million gallons of water in the small town of Enumclaw. Nestle plans to produce a new line of water products has resulted in the need to construct either a small plant or a large plant. The best selection of plant size depends on how the marketplace reacts to the new water product line. To conduct an analysis, marketing management has decided to view the possible long-run demand as low, medium, or high. The following payoff table shows the projected profit in millions of dollars:
